Homeowners Insurance

Homeowners Insurance

Property insurance in California has become challenging in the last several years.  Wildfires have caused significant issues in the state, resulting in insurance companies being more restrictive as far as acceptability of many locations.  Many homeowners have been non-renewed by their insurance company due to potential exposure to wildfire.

We’re here to help you navigate options.  We are appointed with preferred and specialty insurance companies and will find the best option for your insurance.  Some things to consider when evaluating your insurance:

  • Is your coverage sufficient to rebuild your home given increased construction costs over the last few years?
  • Do you have appropriate liability coverage given your exposures?
  • Is there any optional coverage – scheduled jewelry, underground utility lines, building code upgrade – that should be considered?

We write business everywhere in California – we are especially familiar with Walnut Creek, Danville, Oakland, Concord, and the Bay Area as a whole.  We also write out of state business in neighboring states.

If your insurance has been non-renewed, you’re in the market to purchase a new home, or you need an evaluation of your current policy to make sure you have appropriate coverage, please reach out to us.  Our personal lines team is experienced and ready to assist.

Landlord Insurance

Landlord Insurance

Your rental property can provide you with a steady cash flow as well as significant tax advantages.  Owning any property can come with a set of risks, and we’re here to help you find appropriate coverage for your rental properties.

Providing coverage for a long term rental property (typically annual lease agreements) is one of our specialties.  We write business with A-rated companies that are competitively priced.  Coverage for Loss of Rents, liability, rebuilding to current code, and other standard inclusions are available.

In addition to long term rental properties, we have seen an emergence of short term rentals over the last several years.

While this is an attractive option for property owners, it’s critical to make sure that you have appropriate liability coverage for the property.  We have options available for your property only used for short term rentals and also situations where your primary or secondary residence is occasionally rented out.

For any rental situation you have, we have a solution.  Our personal lines team is here to assist.

Earthquake Insurance

Earthquake Insurance

Over the years, we’ve heard that the Big One could hit any day.  It’s been easy to lose sight of this given so much emphasis has (rightfully so) been placed on fires in the state.  Earthquakes continue to loom as a viable threat against structures in California.

Earthquake insurance should be always considered if you own your home.  Without coverage, you could be in a compromised position to recoup from a significant earthquake.  As you gain equity in the home, the need for coverage becomes even more emphasized.  Simply put, your home could likely be your largest investment, and this is an avenue to help protect that investment.

In California, it is commonly known that your homeowners insurance policy does not cover earthquakes unless you have specifically requested the coverage.  There are options available for coverage through California Earthquake Authority (CEA) for homeowners insurance companies that are appointed with them.  If they are not appointed with CEA, they must have their own offering or partner with another company for an offering.  In addition to the option presented by your homeowners insurance company, there are private companies to also consider, and these are often times price leaders.  These companies also offer flexibility with regards as far as coverage limits and deductibles go.

We’re here to help you sort through these offerings so that you can move forward with the best available option.  Please contact us so that we can provide you an option to consider.

Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella Insurance

Most auto accidents and injuries sustained at your property can be handled within the liability limits on your auto or homeowners insurance policies.  However, if there are significant injuries or death, that can lead to significant litigation against you.  The best way to address this scenario is with an umbrella policy.

Umbrella insurance provides additional liability coverage for your property, autos, and boats.  The purpose of the coverage is to protect your personal assets and future earnings in the event of litigation against you due to a covered claim.  The nice thing about an umbrella policy is that it’s affordable.

Our personal lines team is here to help navigate options for umbrella coverage.
